TXDOT Detours White Oak Greenway Trail Along Quitman St

January 15, 2026 Kelli Fereday

Per TXDOT, “starting Jan. 15, 2026, the White Oak Bayou Greenway (Little White Oak Bayou Trail), between Houston Avenue and the Castillo Community Center is closed for work on the IH-45 southbound to I-10 westbound and the I-10 eastbound to IH-45 northbound connector ramps.

The trail is expected to remain closed through 2028 and may be intermittently reopened throughout the project. A detour is in place for trail users, as shown on this map in blue. Please observe the posted detour signage and do not enter areas with orange construction fencing.”

This detour is bordered on the north by Woodland Park, and to the south by Freed Art and Nature Park. These are both important and protected City of Houston Nature Preserves and Friends of Woodland Park advocates and cares for these areas per our bylaws. Additionally we are working with the Northside Management District to insure a safe and complete construction project on Quitman while also looking to install crosswalks between Woodland and Freed Parks. Please report any concerns to the Greater Northside Management District.
